Permanent coating eliminates the need for chemical binders

Sonovia

The startup Sonovia Ltd., Ramat Gan/Israel, is developing a breakthrough, single-step, Sono-coating process, utilizing a unique physical phenomena called “Cavitation”, which eliminates the need for any chemical binders, thus greatly reducing the required chemicals in the coating process. The technology is applicable on every fabric.

Sonovia’s business model is to remain focused on the chemistry R&D, supply, training and support, while the machines will be supplied by the strategic partner Brückner Textile Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, Leonberg/Germany.
Founded in 2015, the startup won the Horizon 2020 grant from European Commission. At the international textile and garment technology exhibition ITMA 2019, held on June 20-26, 2019, in Barcelona/Spain, Sonovia unveiled a pilot machine.
The startup was presented at the 1st Startup-Days of the 58th Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (Dornbirn GFC) in Dornbirn/Austria from September 11-12, 2019.
