The textile coating, dyeing and finishing specialists Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, Inc., Yorkville, IL/USA, a subsidiary of Meridian Industries, Milwaukee, WI/USA, has won an award for Operational Excellence from the Valley Industrial Association (VIA), Geneva, IL/USA, which represents the manufacturing industry in the Fox Valley region of Illinois, a large industrial area near Chicago.
The VIA’s award recognizes leadership in operational strategic planning and implementation.
The awards process included a detailed submission and a lengthy interview that emphasized Aurora’s continuous operational improvements. This includes utilization of Kaizen Events and Green Belt projects, 2 of the key performance indicators used to measure operations effectiveness, as well as cross-training, on-board training for operators and benchmarking with other plants.
