In order to promote man-made fibers research at universities and research institutes, the Paul Schlack Man-Made Fibres Prize has been awarded since 1971 on the occasion of the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (GFC) in Dornbirn/Austria.
At the event from September 12-14, 2018 in association with the European Man-Made Fibers Association (CIRFS), Brussels/Belgium, the Paul Schlack/Wilhelm Albrecht Prize 2018 was awarded to following innovative projects: Dr. Alexander Weise of the Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA) der RWTH Aachen University, Aachen/Germany, convinced the jury with his project “Development of graphene modified multifilaments for the construction of textile electrical storage”. Dr. Christoph Rieger, the Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf (DITF)/ITV Denkendorf, Denkendorf/Germany, impressed with his project “Development of a manufacturing system for high temperature stable meltblown nonwovens and their characteristics”.
The Dornbirn GFC was highlighted by 102 high quality international lectures from academia and industry, and more than 700 participants from 35 countries took part.
