Electronic textiles with sensors, light-emitting diodes and even drive elements inspire the textile and clothing industry. "Smart Clothing" is one of the topics at the world's leading trade fair for printed electronics, LOPEC, from March 13-15, 2018 in Munich/Germany. The LOPEC covers the entire value chain of printed electronics – from material development and plant construction to application, and presents numerous areas of application.
The electronic components have to be light, flexible and robust in order to be used in textile processing. Cost efficiency paves the way for mass production. This is achieved with electronic printing processes – instead of colors, the printer applies electronic functional materials layer by layer. This allows electrodes, circuits or phosphors to be created directly on the fabric.
