During 2021, the producer of chemical specialties Icap-Sira Chemicals and Polymers SpA, Parabiago/Italy, reorganized its strategic innovation plan, that is an essential part of remapping the corporate processes with a view to sustainability.
This year, the company launched a new product range of bio-based acrylic and polyurethanes polymers which is composed by 33 new polymers. These new products have a renewable carbon content from 50-70% that comes from new monomers that have been developed by its suppliers with the aim of substituting fossil-based raw materials and giving a better carbon footprint.
The new Acrilem Eco are acrylate-based polymers both in water dispersion (for chemical bonding of fibers) and in UV curable hot melt form (for pressure sensitive applications). The Idrocap Eco series contain differing polyurethanes from new polyethers and polyesters with high renewable carbon content. These polymers can be applied as chemical binders where high elasticity is required and as surface modifiers.
