A renowned designer of high-performance outerwear and equipment, Arc’teryx, is teaming up with composite materials producer Aluula. Both companies create high-quality gear for extreme outdoor environments and have unified with the aim to use cutting-edge ultralight materials to elevate Arc’teryx's product line. Key to this joint venture (JV) is making strides towards product circularity and furthering Aluula's recycling capabilities through the potential development of an industry-first take-back and recycling program for products made with this distinctive mono-material.
Characterized by a strength-to-weight ratio exceeding that of steel, yet lighter than common textiles materials such as polyamide and polyester, Aluula's composite materials pave the way for unique no-sew and welded construction techniques. The company’s innovative fusion process results in a composite material which is both exceptionally lightweight and durable. Arc’teryx's detailed understanding of materials and construction is key to leveraging the newfound sustainability and performance potential, marking a new era of circular outdoor product design.

Following an intensive development process, the first mass-market product using Aluula's materials is set to launch in Spring 2025. The collaboration between Arc’teryx Equipment, Vancouver/Canada, a subsidiary of Amer Sports Oy, Helsinki/Finland and Aluula Composites Inc., Victoria/Canada, harbors the potential to revolutionize industry product development methods and their resulting lifecycle, spanning from creation to disposal and leading to widespread implications extending beyond just performance improvements.
