On December 31, 2019, Ali Akdag retired from the European Man-Made Fibers Association (CIRFS), Brussels/Belgium. He represented and defended the man-made fibers industry on environmental and technical matters at European level.
As of January 1, 2020, the environmental department is led by Dr. Jochen Ballach, head of the technical and environmental department in Industrievereinigung Chemiefaser e.V. (German man-made fiber association), Frankfurt/Germany.
The technical department, including the International Bureau of Standardization of Man-made Fibres (BISFA), Brussels, and responsible for standards, fiber names, burning behavior and European R&D items, is led by Dr. Bernard Defraye.
