New generation of smart garments and e-textiles

24.10.2019 A novel process for printing conductive patterns directly onto textiles, enabling a new generation of wearable smart garments has been developed by the startup Pireta Ltd., Teddington/UK.

Unlike printed conductive inks, Pireta’s technology has no impact on the handle, drape, strechability or breathability of the fabric. The patented technology was invented by Chris Hunt and spun out of the National Physical Labs, a world-renowned scientific research establishment in the UK.
Pireta will enable its customers to create interconnects needed for smart garments and e-textiles. The startup will provide manufacturing services for R&D, prototyping and small production. For higher-volume production, Pireta will enable customers and manufacturing partners to operate its process.
The product is aimed at range of sectors, including wellness, fitness, healthcare, fashion/apparel, sports, industrial and defence.
The startup was presented at the 1st Startup-Days of the 58th Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (Dornbirn GFC) in Dornbirn/Austria from September 11-12, 2019.
