Answering the call from the Austrian Federal Government to boost the production of protective clothing, the machinery producer SML Maschinengesellschaft mbH, Redlham/Austria, is now using its development department and production facilities in Redlham for the production of laminates for protective clothing.
The line currently in use to provide materials for protective clothing is an extrusion line for coatings and laminates. It is equipped with the Double Coat process patented by SML, producing laminates combined with monolithic membranes. These Materials form an extremely effective barrier against viruses and bacteria and are also characterized by their very high breathability and elasticity. In addition to laminates for protective clothing, SML can also use this line to make materials for functional clothing, breathable hygiene applications or covers for operations in the medical field.
