The Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Fibers & Textiles of the producer of fibers, chemicals and electronics, Asahi Kasei Corp., Tokyo/Japan, will expand capacity for Lamous microfiber suede in Nobeoka/Japan.
High-quality microfiber suede Lamous is characterized by its unique 3-layered microstructure which allows free combinations of the raw materials. The 3-layer structured material is made of the front, back, and core layers. They are 3-dimensionally entangled with microfibers, and the core layer is composed of a fine, specially-woven fabric called “scrim,” which improves strength and dimensional stability. Impregnation with water-based polyurethane imparts a soft and highly flexible texture. Lamous finds application in automotive interiors.
Asahi Kasei also launched its new R&D Center in Dormagen/Germany on October 1, 2017. The main focus of the Asahi Kasei Europe R&D Center will be on strengthening the technical service network for the customers and to develop products in order to expand into new businesses on the European market.
