Availability of realistic digital fabrics

Assyst

How can fabrics be optimally presented at a virtual trade show? At the sporting goods trade show ISPO Munich Online 2021 from February 1-5, 2021, the software developer Assyst GmbH, Aschheim/Germany, together with other partners, made the fabrics submitted for the ISPO Textrends Award digitally available.

For this purpose, the fabric samples were scanned by Vizoo GmbH, Haar/Germany, and the Technical University of Dresden determined and digitalized the physical properties of the fabrics. All the data and the real fabrics were then sent to Assyst.
The different data were merged in 3D Vidya and its characteristics and texture were repeatedly compared and further optimized the fabric on the real example. The fabric was then draped in different ways to make its behavior comprehensible. Additionally, 3D garments for which the fabrics could be used were designed and simulated. In this way, a comprehensive material package has been created for each fabric, allowing designers to get a realistic impression of the fabric's texture.
The availability of realistic digital fabrics is also very important in 3D product development.
