The use of mouth and nose masks is now obligatory in many places due to the corona virus. However, masks are still in short supply. The textile machine manufacturer Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH, Obertshausen/Germany, has developed 2 types of masks. Both types can be produced in large quantities and in a one-step production without any sewing effort using warp knitting machines by Karl Mayer.
Type 1 is produced at short notice and is suitable for everyday use. After use the masks can be washed and reused. Due to their 3D shape, these masks have a tight fit and good wearing properties. They offer a convenient air exchange, a soft skin feeling, and prevent friction points on the ears, even after long-term use.
Type 2 provides all the advantages of type 1, but it can be equipped with a replaceable nonwoven lining via a pocket. This increases the filtration capacity.
For both mask types a certification of the filter effect according to medical standards is intended. Karl Mayer has already equipped one of its customers with the machine technology and instructions for the production of these masks. The installed machine can produce up to 400 masks per hour or 240,000 masks per month. Production will start at the end of April.
