Improved warp preparation for better fabric quality

14.10.2020 Filter fabrics are used in process filtration, silk-screening, as filter components, medical applications, and also in architecture. Ultra-fine fabrics are being increasingly used in the high-tech field of smart textiles. The textile machinery manufacturer Stäubli AG, Pfäffikon/Switzerland, provides the state-of-the-art weaving preparation solutions to produce the required precision fabrics.

To streamline the drawing-in process on the warp, which is up to 400 cm in width, Stäubli provides automatic drawing-in machines that can handle up to 200 ends per minute. The Safir drawing-in machines, with their state-of-the-art image processing, make it possible to flawlessly separate individual threads from the dense sheet of warp threads with up to 200 threads/cm. Programmable repeat control and repeat management ensures correct drawing-in to heald frames and reed dents, and thereby ensures the specified fabric properties. Even abrasive yarns such as Kevlar or fiberglass can be processed, thanks to specially coated thread-handling elements. Within the broad range of automatic drawing-in machines, weavers can choose the Safir S80 model that can even work from 2 stacked warp beams, e.g. up to 4 different yarn layers and materials (e.g. S and Z-twisted yarns).
