PHP Fibers
Innovative materials for a sustainable future

09.05.2019 The producer of high-tenacity filament yarns, PHP Fibers GmbH, Wuppertal/Germany, will be exhibiting its broad portfolio of polyamide (PA) and polyester (PET) filament yarns and (new from this year) fabrics at the Techtextil. As at the last events, the company will represent the Indorama Ventures Group, Bangkok/Thailand, together with various sister companies.

A new company of this group, and now an affiliate of PHP Fibers, is the supplier of airbag fabrics and technical textiles UTT Technische Textilien, Krumbach/Germany. At the fair, UTT will present its specialized airbag fabric portfolio, together with the well-known Enka Nylon airbag yarns of PHP Fibers.
Amongst the latest developments, PHP will show the next generation of Enka TecTape Hybrid Roving making conversion into fiber-reinforced composites more versatile than before: its constant dimensions and smooth surface are ideal for the waste less, load path oriented tailored fiber placement (TFP) production of economic lightweight textiles. The newly developed low-shrink matrix fiber material enables the conversion into demanding composites even under low-pressure conditions.
New brands and products
Enka Plast Elastic Weft Yarn for tire cord fabrics is the pre-requisite requirement for modern tire reinforcements. This high-tech product further augments the portfolio of PHP
Fibers’ tire yarn product range.
The upcoming need for sustainable products is for today’s technical textiles is covered by Enka Nylon Bio yarn. It is the first sustainable drop-in alternative for fossil-based technical polyamide yarns at almost zero CO2 emission balance for its polymer synthesis. In addition, it provides less sensitivity to humidly pick-up. With its good fatigue resistance in MRG, it also outperforms fossil-based PA 66 reinforcements.
In September 2017, PHP Fibers took over the Breathair activities from Toyobo Europe GmbH, Düsseldorf/Germany, in Europe. Breathair is the innovative 3D structure nonwoven solution. From a slim, flexible protective layer to a thick cushioning, Breathair is a good option for multiple applications. Being highly water repellent, very air-permeable, and lighter than polyurethane at the same level of hardness, its rubbery elasticity makes this material very durable. Since it is recyclable and suitable for recycling to Bunker A fuel oil, in this way PHP Fibers’ provide an environmental friendly loop structure with very good hygiene properties.
