Suominen
utilizing artificial intelligence

12.10.2018 The nonwovens producer Suominen Corp, Helsinki/Finland, is introducing the Intelligent Nonwovens concept to the market. The concept makes it possible to embed digital features into Suominen nonwovens.

With Suominen Intelligent Nonwovens, product traceability and product safety can be taken to a new level. It also provides brands with a new kind of marketing tool. These are only some examples of opportunities the concept offers.

Using Suominen Intelligent Nonwovens, all kinds of digital features can be embedded into the substrate without deteriorating other functionalities or aesthetic appearance of nonwovens. For instance, if a consumer would want to know the origin of the raw materials of the wipe they just purchased, they could retrieve the data by just scanning the wipe with their smartphone. If a wet wipes manufacturer notices a flaw in a wipe and wants to track the origin of the nonwovens, that could again be done quickly with a smartphone.

Suominen Intelligent Nonwovens was one of 3 finalists competing for RISE Innovation Award, which was presented by the Association of the Nonwovens Fabrics Industry INDA, Cary, NC/USA, on September 13, 2018. The award recognizes innovation that creatively uses advanced science and engineering principles to solve challenges within the nonwovens and engineered fabrics industry.
